BALTIMORE, MARYLAND July 30, 2015 – The latest event in the ongoing War Memorial Arts Initiative concert series will feature an evening of musical color and mystique by Duo Rossignol as they present Folksongs and Voices of Nature. Soprano Hillary LaBonte and flutist Mary Matthews will perform selections from the enchanting works of John Corigliano, Cherise Leiter, Kaija Saariaho, and Hilary Tann at the War Memorial on Thursday August 6th.
The War Memorial Arts Initiative serves to strengthen the neighborhoods surrounding the City Hall Campus by promoting civic engagement through shared culture while honoring and serving veterans. Baltimore's Department of General Services operates the arts initiative and maintains the War Memorial on behalf of the War Memorial Commission.
“Hosting Duo Rossignol is exactly the sort of event the War Memorial Arts Initiative is made for,” said WMAI Events Organizer Joshua Bornfield. “Combining the talents of these two skilled musicians with the compelling works of the featured composers all but guarantees attendees a thrilling evening.”
