On November 10^th 1966 James “Jim” Fisher began working for the City of Baltimore, nearly 50 years ago. He started at Memorial Stadium and worked there until its demolition in 1996.

In his first job, he was hired by Recreation and Parks as a laborer before enlisting in the Army. After leaving the military, he apprenticed as an electrician and was hired by the City as an Electrical Supervisor. Jim stayed at Memorial Stadium throughout multiple department mergers until he ended up with DGS in Facilities Maintenance.

Jim has two memories that stick out over the years. He was working in Memorial Stadium during the Orioles 1983 World Series run. The other memory was maintaining the ice rink at the stadium and driving the Zamboni. Occasionally he would drive it across the City (with a police escort traveling 10 mph) to clean the ice at other City owned rinks.

Jim enjoys the variety and challenge of coming to work each day. He said “You never know what you will run into.” But if he could change one thing about work it would be the CitiBuy procurement system.

Jim is married, has 5 kids and 10 grandchildren and lives in the suburban community of Rosedale.
